What do you do in real life?

Full-time mom to 4 kids and part-time administrative assistant.


Why did you choose roller derby?

I had been a stay at home mom for 10 years when I founded the league. I wanted to get out of the house.


What do you love most about roller derby?

Competing. Okay, I'm super competitive. What I really like is winning.

I wear red lipstick in honor of my grandma.


Best derby memory:

Playing with my lifelong best friend in BRD's Clowns vs. Mimes mixed scrimmage.

Why did you choose roller derby?

I needed an exercise replacement for yoga. I'm still finding new ways to bend, just in a different way.


What do you do in real life?

Medical Technologist (laboratory monkey pushing buttons).

Avoiding awkward situations, a patch of sunshine with a good book, opal apples, and figuring out how things work.

Because it's cheaper than therapy.


What do you love most about your team?

They smell good.

Keep my kids alive at home.


What do you love most about your team?

I love that I can improve and change at every single practice. There is always room for improvement. My team pushes and challenges me each time.

Why did you choose roller derby?

I played hockey as a little girl and loved it. I have always loved to skate and I wanted to meet other women with similar interests. I'm not a knitting circle kinda girl.


Why did you choose your derby name?

My name is derived from Gilda Radner, the famous comedian. She has always been an idol of mine.


Favorite team charity event:

Our bout to benefit LACASA. It is such a great organization helping women.

Why did you choose roller derby?

I attended a BRD bout and knew immediately that was something I wanted to be a part of. It was intense to watch all these women of different sizes and ages play a contact sport. I mean, these women were taking a beating and they got back up for more! I also was seeking an alternative to the gym and roller derby is filled with cardio.


Best derby memory:

First time I jammed. I was a nervous wreck and you could probably see my legs shaking. Once the jam whistle blew, it was like I was in another world. It was such a rush!

Why did you choose your derby name?

It combines my career as a forensic scientist with the Michigan State Police with something tough.

I play multiple musical instruments including guitar, French horn, trumpet, piano, and trombone.

Why did you choose your derby name?

My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the only one that matters in my life.


Best derby memory:

Skating for 30 seconds in an away bout when I was brand new. I was praying that I wouldn't get hit.


What do you love most about your team?

I love and appreciate the hard work the leaders put into managing the league and the behind the scenes work. There is a lot of passion behind their work.
